Rosamund Pike Talks About Being Trapped In A Car Underwater

The Gone Girl star has received her third Golden Globe nod for the role of Marla Grayson. The character is a woman who makes her living by scamming her elderly clients and tricking judges into appointing her as their legal guardian. Things change when Marla finds out her latest victim has ties to a powerful gangster.

Premiered last year at Toronto International Film Festival, I Care a Lot is distributed by Netflix in the US and by Amazon Studios internationally. The movie also stars Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage, Eiza González, Chris Messina, and Dianne Wiest.

Pike recalled being in a car in the water for a scene of the movie.

“That was me in the water,” the actress told Jimmy Kimmel.

Pike revealed the scene was filmed in two different locations.

“We actually… It’s in a car and the car went over the cliff in Boston, Massachusetts. I also sprang from the water in Boston, Massachusetts,” she said.

“But the water tank stuff was filmed at Pinewood Studios in London,” she continued.

The Pride & Prejudice actress spent two days filming the scene.

“I had two days filming in a car underwater where it’s all for real and my character is fighting for her life and trying to escape from a sinking car,” she said.

“This is probably everybody’s worst nightmare,” she added.

Pike also added that her character was drugged and had drunk vodka before being in the car, which didn’t make escaping any easier.

Pike Will Next Star On Prime Video’s Fantasy ‘The Wheel Of Time’

Pike will next appear in upcoming Amazon Prime Video’s fantasy series, The Wheel of Time. This is an adaptation of the novel series of the same name by Robert Jordan.

The actress will portray protagonist Moiraine, a member of the powerful, all-woman organization of channelers — magic users —called the Aes Sedai.

Moiraine takes five people from her village to live with her, saving them from an attack of an evil force known as the Dark One. Among her five new friends, Moiraine thinks there might be the reincarnation of the Dragon, an ancient channeler with the ability to save the world or destroy it.

Rafe Judkins, known for being a writer on Chuck and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., helms the project.
