British singer Natasha Bedingfield is best known for her popular debut album, Unwritten. However, she has been out of the limelight for years, and here’s what happened to her.
Natasha enjoyed international success after releasing her debut album back in 2004. She has sold more than 2.3 million copies of her iconic record worldwide. Aside from that, she has also released a number of studio albums since then, but things went the other way as she has seemed to take a step back from the spotlight in more recent times.
Shortly after soaring to stardom, Natasha’s time at the top started to slip away. According to Digital Spy, the British public backed out slowly after the singer belted out her song, “I Wanna Have Your Babies.” Some also argued that this happened because she deserted her commitments in UK so she could focus on making a name in America.
But soon after, her success in America started to fade away. In 2010, Natasha released her third album Strip Me, but it never reached the Top 100. Then in the following year, her reworked version of the record, Strip Me Away, was released in Europe, and still, it didn’t even hit the UK chart. Despite the failures, these didn’t stop her from making music.
The pop star collaborated with Nicki Minaj on “Last Chance,” which was featured in the famous rapper’s album, Pink Friday. She teamed up with different music personalities and bands such as Rascal Flatts, Simple Plan, Belgian DJ Basto, The Corrs, and more. It shows how Natasha never gave up on her passion for music regardless of the letdowns of life she experienced.
Despite the letdowns, the greatest victory she ever had experienced in life was when her son, Solomon, recovered from an infection in his brain. It can be remembered that her child went through multiple surgeries back in 2019. She even shared on Instagram at that time some updates of what was going about her life, her family, and her music career.
She noted, "I'm actually going on a plane to Vegas tonight to do a quick show I was committed to and then come back in time for the surgery. Love u guys. Life is crazy. This is the real rock and roll."
Fortunately, last year, Natasha released an uplifting song, “Together in This,” while spending time with family. She said in an interview with PEOPLE, “We have a unique experience because we were in the hospital just two months before COVID because Solo had a brain abscess and had to have some surgeries.”
The good news is her son is completely recovered now. The singer went on to say, “It’s actually quite nice to be at home as a family, with our son really healthy,” adding how thankful she and her family were thankful for saving her son’s life.
As for her singing, Natasha revealed that her son loves her singing to him and is even joining in himself. She said, “He’s grown up around me doing music. I think he thinks every mum does it because it’s so normal for him.”
The Grammy-nominated singer, who had finally able to enjoy time with her family, didn’t let the bad circumstances and the pandemic hinder her from doing music. Recently, she posted on Instagram a video of herself mimicking the viral Tiktok dance challenge of her song. She wrote, “The essence of Unwritten is about how wonderful, unexpected things can happen at any moment, and these tik tok dances I keep seeing recently couldn’t be more wonderful and unexpected!”
